Instruction and practice in researching, composing, and delivering formal and informal speeches in a variety of public contexts. In the Game format speakers develop more complex communication skills as they work up through the levels of the game, from citizen, to voter, to candidate and senator.

Personal Finance

A study of personal finance topics from the consumer and societal perspectives. This course will provide students with the concepts and critical thinking skills to understand the effects of financial decisions on individuals, families, and society.

Press and Society

Newspapers and magazines play an important role in economic, political, social and personal life. Focusing primarily on the press in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, this subject examines the history of the press, the principles that underlie and inform the press, ongoing debates about quality and 'tabloidisation' and the opportunities and challenges posed by new technologies.

Public Speaking II

This course will help you learn how to prepare to speak publicly, how to research for that presentation, and how to analyze your audience so your speech is spot-on! Public Speaking II will give you practice in public speaking in various speech situations and improve your argumentation and critical thinking skills.

Start Writing Essays

If you are planning to return to education, you'll probably need to write an essay or two. Featuring a mixture of text, audio and video, this learning pathway examines the skills and techniques required to master that skill. The pathway also explains the importance of structure, tone and content of an essay.

The Interview

In this subject, students study the processes and skills required for interviewing, focussing on key case studies in literature, print journalism, cinema, broadcasting, and online.
